In computing, what is the difference between IPX and SPX?
SPX both provide connection services similar to IPX and TCP / IP. But is it a difference between them?
IPX / SPX Internetwork Packet Exchange represents / Sequenced Packet Exchange. It is a network protocol Used by operating Systems Novell NetWare the. Like UDP, IPX is a connectionless datagram protocol used for communications. IPX and SPX are derived From the Network Services' IDP and Xerox SPP protocol. SPX is a transport layer protocol (layer 4 of the OSI Model) used in Novell NetWare networks. The SPX layer sits on top of the IPX layer (layer 3 – network layer) and provides connection-oriented services between Two nodes on the network. SPX is used primarily by the client / server applications. IPX SPX and provide connection services similar to TCP / IP, IPX with similarities with the intellectual property, having similarities with SPX TCP. IPX / SPX was primarily designed for local area networks (LANs), and a protocol is very effective for this purpose (usually its Performance exceeds that of TCP / IP on a LAN). TCP / IP, however, become the de facto standard protocol. This is partly due to its superior performance over a WAN and the Internet (which uses TCP / IP only), and because TCP / IP is a more mature protocol, designed with this aim in mind.
