Needs Assessment Farrokhshahr city, Iran, according to the method of rapid assessment in 2004
Introduction:
Objectives the most important community participatory research are the organization and operation of relevant data to solve local problems. In this way, the laboratory population Farokhshahr in the city of Farokhshahr, and Chahar Mahal Bakhtiary province of Iran, founded in 2004 to empower local communities to recognize and solve their problems in a manner based development, and the final objective is the promotion of health.
In this center, Running participatory research is an important fact is that community mobilization, assessment needs, priority setting, intervention and evaluation (1).
As a result of community mobilization, we should start the needs assessment and priority setting (2).
Needs is the gap between current and ideal situation, and this is recognized by the needs assessment project (2).
In the laboratory population Farokhshahr, the Main objective is the development and promotion of health for all people (1).
In various International research, rapid assessment of needs assessment has been applied to identify the different needs in social and health (3-10).
In this survey, needs assessment project was conducted in the city of Farokhshsahr order to conduct applied research based on the real needs of the Community and not just based on the ideas of researchers.
Methods
This project is a community participatory research was conducted using rapid assessment of needs evaluation method.
study population consisted of all 45,000 inhabitants of the city of Farokhshahr. Sample size was 40 groups and each group consisted of 6-12 members. The sample size (400 persons) was selected in the study population using random sampling. These 400 persons were selected by systematic random method, with Two variables:
Sex (male and female) –
Age
(0-10 years old children, 16-19 years: adolescence, 19-25 years: young, 25-65 years: mean age,> 65 years: the aging of the group)
These people were invited to the center and interviews Made by team members, group discussions then performed to determine local needs. The question because children 0-10 years, were asked their mothers.
Rapid Needs Assessment Qualitative evaluation method is that local knowledge, skills and research are Used. This method is based on three processes:
Observation-
Interview with various groups of local people-
Information-Gathering
The advantages of this method are as follows:
Inform the local community –
Identification of roles and responsibilities each person
The optimal use of information (data) and resource-
In all phases of research, media play a crucial and leading, they gathered information correct that, after analysis should lead to set priorities, make interventions and then evaluate the whole process.
All phases of research were carried with the active participation of research and development Farokhshahr members of the laboratory population (Chahar Mahal situated in the province and Bakhtiari) under the supervision Shahre Kord University of Medical Sciences.
In mobilizing the community of the laboratory population formed an organization called "Team Farokhshahr development.
Centre for Research and Population Development established in 2004 and composed Farokhshahr authorities and all stakehaloles.
In this team local representatives of the people, organized into 10 working committees active. These committees have included:
– Aging Committee group
Committee of the Young
Woman Committee
Cultural, artistic and religious-committee
The social security committee,
Health and Food Committee-
Sports & Recreation Committee-
Construction Committee-
The leader of these committees are members of the research and development team.
Initially, local news (community profile), including population Farokhshahr, age distribution, causes of mortality, the health care system, the indices of literacy, the occupation of security, culture, communication and accommodation, were collected by members of the team under the supervision of academics.
Information collected from three sources:
Current Local Information (Community Profile)
observational data and record
Maintenance with existing local populations in Farokhshahr (two variables: gender and age).
Finally, collected information from the sources mentioned organized and classified into 9 groups, the process implemented with the active participation of team members and university researchers' supervision.
Results
In this survey, 40 problems have been estimated and classified into 9 groups (problems with old group, a group of young, groups of women, a group of construction, sports and group exercise, health and food group, the group of social security, cultural arts group and occupation group) (Table 1).
Discussion:
In this survey using rapid assessment method evaluation, with the active participation of people Farokhshahr a wide range of social problems have been recognized, the problem identified only are not only based on health, but also social and cultural issues.
rapid assessment of needs assessment method was used in many research studies and in all of this method was the most appropriate and cost – benefit of obtaining a wide range of issues with the participation of local populations (3-10).
A common thread in all these studies is to obtain a range rage social health needs.
In a study conducted in Northern Ireland, a broad range of social and health problems such as loss of sales outlets, loss support group to increase the aging of psychiatric drugs, have been obtained (3).
In another study conducted in Buenos Areas with focus groups (focus groups), a wide range of problems such as air pollution, dependence on alcohol and opium recognized (4).
In a study conducted researchers in Soweto South Africa concluded that, based on resource constraints and need to use effective of these limited resources, policymakers should implement methods that include issues of global health, and to get this through participatory research by all concerned stakeholders in the community. Finally, they concluded that they can use this method in all regions of South Africa effectively (5).
In a study conducted in socially disadvantaged, multiethnic district in south-east London, with a population of over 700,000 to undertake a comprehensive review of district services and primary health care to identify the views of users and suppliers on current arrangements and options Development, widespread dissatisfaction of the current provisions has been identified, specific problems related to access, variability, the demand for services, and interagency communication. Many of these problems are being planned or testing (4).
In a study performed between 670 homes in Edinburgh, six priorities were identified, many of which are not related to health. They realized that the primary care team may use an expanded rapid assessment in a first Step in identifying and meeting the needs Local health. It promotes a multidisciplinary and comprehensive quantitative methods of needs assessment (7).
The results of our study had a Full coordination with the research cited and the common point of all is the active participation of local people in all process steps, and the determination community oriented rather than focusing on health needs.
We recommended that resource constraints are likely to remain in foreseeable future, and efficiency remains a major concern, methods should understand the problems of global health, and this is possible through any local issue holder participation.
In this area of rapid assessment of needs assessment is most appropriate. It is applicable in all regions of the country and rapid impact and cost-benefit with the participation of all stakeholders and decision makers.

What is the point halfway to Portland OR Rapid City, SD?
My husband and I are planning a trip and need to know where the halfway point, is that we plan to pack the overnight stop. We'll be driving and we plan to collect I-90 near Spokane WA and take the rest Track in Rapid City.
If you're ready to take I-90, then unfortunately yes, you're looking for the Butte. The link below computes the exact middle between the two locations using Google Maps. It's kinda fun.
