Smoke alarm constantly giong off. Is there any way of shutting off short of taking a bat to it?
It’s hardwired to the electrical system, so I can’t take the Battery out.
It keeps going off every hour or so. The weather here is very, very humid and wet, which I think may have something to do with it, as this happened last time in similar weather.
Is there a Switch in the Unit that I can use to turn it off before I go deaf?
And yes I know it Needs to be replaced, but right now all I care about is shutting the fucking thing off.

get yourself a stepladder, you will find the Detector twists to an unlock point, let it drop down and unplug it. (a small modular plug).
If there isn’t one, then you will have to remove the base and disconnect the wires.Turn off the power to the smoke detector circuit the cut the Red, white and black wire (one at a time). Turn the power back on.
Chances are you have an interconnected system (more than one detector in the same circuit) and also it is possible the units are battery back-up as Well.
If the unit(s) are chirping they need a battery.
If they or it is going off like it detects smoke then the unit is bad.
