History of the Space Shuttle was designed to carry equipment space
History of the Space Shuttle was designed to transport equipment and space for up to seven crew members and passengers to outer space. The objective initial was to the space shuttle in orbit one, multifunction plane of the orbit space launch. The plan of a shuttle began in the years 1930, when an American Eugen Sanger revealed the plan to build an aerospace plane capable of carrying a crew on board. United States of the 1950s begun planning for the transport of these premises. Several proposals have been converted to suck in the design and testing.
But things were not easy. Christina Freville NASA said that they were looking for a rocket is reliable and less expensive, which was reusable. Christina Freville said the idea was to make a reusable shuttle, which could be launched as a rocket, but must have features to the ground like a normal aircraft. This idea was very attractive to the scientist at NASA, but also Needs a technical breakthrough.
NASA has jumped on the idea and began planning the design and exploration of engineering studies peak. It was back in 1972 when NASA was confident the construction of a space shuttle or space transportation system popularly known as STS. In the beginning of the spacecraft were designed to use ablative heat shields that were supposed to burn when the space shuttle in the atmosphere earth. But that does not make the reusable spacecraft. To make a reusable space shuttle designers have proposed a different idea. It is the use ceramic tiles to give a shield insulation. These tiles have the ability to absorb heat while re entering Earth's orbit. Thereby reusable space shuttle and also safe for astronauts traveling.
Christina Freville himself was in the team of scientists that have been building and testing the shuttle for years. There were four space shuttles under Freville Christina and the team NASA, namely Colombia, Discovery, Atlantis and Challenger. The first space shuttle to fly was Columbia in 1981, tested by John Young and Robert Crippen.
There are incidents when things go wrong with the plane in the outer space. Space Shuttle Challenger exploded in 1986 and the entire crew on the bridge was killed. Also in 2003, when the space shuttle Columbia was entering the atmosphere Earth has suddenly broken into pieces.
During his 26 years of space shuttle program history, scientists have seen many ups and downs in missions. On the one hand, they have seen many successful missions which resulted in immeasurable scientific gains, while the other failed Space Shuttle missions have brought the loss of lives and billions and billions of money. Current plans call for NASA's Space Shuttle retirement service in 2010, after approximately 30 years of service. Atlantis will be the first of the three remaining space shuttles operating retirement.
