Do you suffer from separation anxiety disorder? Find Out Now!
Although separation anxiety disorder can affect people of all ages, it is more important in children. Children usually have symptoms of anxiety disorder separation when they are separated from their family environment and familiar people. Most children will experience separation anxiety some point in time but if the symptoms become severe, they may actually have a disorder that is more worrying than the normal separation anxiety.
separation anxiety disorder is evident in the following cases:
– Recurring distress when separated of a person in their life as a mother, father or spouse.
– Constant or obsessive fear of losing the person they are attached to.
– Constant worrying about an event that can happen to separate them from the person they are attached.
– The excessive fear of being left alone, without the object of their affection.
– Reluctance to go to sleep unless their attachment is nearby.
– Nightmares of being separated from that person.
There are children who suffer from anxiety disorder separation which also suffer from attention deficit disorder, bipolar disorder and panic disorder.
Separation anxiety is a normal event for children, especially those whose parents have let them go to work or when they start school and are away from their parents. It not the same as the separation anxiety disorder. With the separation anxiety disorder or condition becomes obsessive compulsive. The reaction to certain events is much stronger than the normal separation anxiety. The child with separation anxiety disorder may present constant crying, shyness, silence or a refusal to associate with others. Under normal circumstances, these symptoms disappear themselves when the child realizes that the situation is normal Part of life. For those who suffer from separation anxiety disorder these symptoms will exacerbate and worsen unless there is some sort of intervention.
There are steps that adults can take to help cope with separation anxiety disorder. Having a baby-sitter come to you to know the child before leave the child alone with them. This will help develop the babysitter a relationship with the child so the child does not feel he is left with a stranger.
Keep the same babysitter instead of evolving. This will allow the child to become familiar with the babysitter and what to expect.
Initially, only leave the child for short periods of time. You can gradually increase the time each day so that your child has time to adjust.
Keep a few favorite toys for your child or blanket familiar with your child when you intend to leave. This will give him a sense of security because it is familiar with his own things.
Practice the same how to say goodbye every time you leave your child. If you always kiss your child and tell them you love them before you leave you should keep the same behavior every day. This way, your child know that when you kiss them and tell them you love them you are about to leave for some time. Tell your child that you will return. Try not to be late to pick them up because it could cause them unnecessary concern.
Always optimistic and never let your child see you're sad to leave. Reinforcing a positive attitude, saying all the fun they will have while you're gone. If you're sad your child can detect your sadness and it will increase their separation anxiety.
