Pump Pools Pond

Green water in a pond.?
I have a pond larger then my pool so I would think between 26,000 – 30,000 Gallons. The problem is the water is green, I tried using a bath tub Full of lava rock and Ran a pump from the pond to the Bottom of the tub and let the water Drain out on the top End of the tub back into the pond. The pond is 3.5 – 5 foot deep, when I have tried to put plants in the pond the fish will eat the plants in about three weeks. I flush the tub out about ever four weeks and rinse the rocks off and close back up. The pump that is sending water to the tub is a large pump I think its about 6,000 gals an hour.
The green in the water is algae. You need to get something from the pet store that will cause the algae to clump. That way the filter can more efficiently remove the algae. Otherwise it is so small it just flows through the pump and the filter back into the pond. I would also check out the skippy filter web page. They have instructions on how to build a cheap but very effective filter. You will need more Filtration then what you have stated and a bigger pump. Or more than one pump of that size.
